Local Union 1070's apprenticeship program currently instructs eighteen students, including residential and intermediate apprentices in addition to journeyman apprentices. After completing a five year combination of schooling and work, our apprentices "top-out" and join the work force primarily as Journeymen Inside Wiremen, with a ticket to work virtually anywhere in the U.S.
In the summer of 2000, our program, in corroboration with Bay de Noc College in Escanaba, will be shifting gears. Thanks to skilled grant writing, cooperation and a lot of hard work, our students have access to state-of-the-art equipment and classrooms on Bay's campus; the centralized location is an added bonus.
