Local 1070's Health and Welfare plan goes by the moniker of the Michigan Electrical Employees' Health Plan (MEEHP) and works hand-in-hand with Blue Cross/Blue Shield.  The main office is located in Lansing and  BC/BS's main office is located in Detroit.

     Above and beyond a generous schedule of benefits, our plan also includes a prescription drug program and a vision service plan, as well as death, dismemberment and disability benefits.  An added bonus is our special fund, or "slush fund";  a predetermined amount of money per hour is contributed on your behalf to the MEEHP and may be utilized by the member to pay for a variety of expenses not covered by the health plan, such as deductibles, co-pays, dental, and almost everything else except maternity clothes! The really nice part is that this fund isn't a use-it-or-lose-it type of benefit at year-end; it just keeps accumulating until you're ready to tap it.
